The most popular are the Jordan, Techonsha Prodigy, and Brake Smart system.

I use a Techonsha Voyager in my pickup, and three other trucks here on the ranch and they work fine. They just don't have much for bells and wistles.

i dont think ill need to many bells and whistles. the prodigy one looks pretty nice. automaticaly adjusts it self and everything however i didnt see a manual control on it or do they not come with them? i looked on a web site and they had proportional, inertia and timing activated. im thinking a proportional would suit my need just fine. http://www.brakecontroller.com/genesis.htm thats the link i found. any other good online place to look at?

Some of that stuff on the Prodigy is pretty nice. It really does help get rid of the classic either on or off feeling from the trailer. Thats one thing I don't like about my Voyager, the trailer brakes basically feel like they are either on or off, not variable like the Prodigy is capable of. I plan on upgrading to a Prodigy one of these days.

I have a Techonsha Prodigy in my F350 and I'm pretty happy with it. As RJF mentioned, it is variable so I can dial the signal up or down depending on the load of the trailer until I can't really feel the trailer under braking... implying the trailer brakes are slowing the trailer down as much as the truck brakes are slowing down the truck.

I had mine installed at a local RV/Trailer kind of place. Not too bad, something like $125 or so installed.

I liked the genesis one as well, but decided on the prodigy. I like the idea of the "pocket mount" and being able to put the controller in different rigs and being able to pull it out at night (security is always good).

My 1-ton is parked on the side of the house and somebody decided to go digging through it the other night. They messed with everything electrical in there, including the old controller. Everything in that truck is busted and the truck hasn't run in over a year, electrics havn't been used in 5 or so; needless to say they didn't get anything or do any real damage. But my 'burb was parked right next to it and it reminded me to be sure and cover/lock everything up.
