305 HP? The current 5.9 has 325? I wonder if Dodge had to increase the displacement because of the emissions for 07 made the HP lower?

I bet upping the displacement and keeping the hp/tq about the same will get the engine life back up to 500K+ miles where it has progressivly been dropping off in the 5.9L due to hp/tq per litre (really pushing the limits)

Exactly what I was thinking. The Cummins can make a butt load of power, but then you start sacrificing longevity and fuel mileage. I bet that 6.7 isnt turned up that much. It does look like they may finally have a good auto tranny, thank the Lord!!!

Well that will pretty much put out the competitor's fire of "yeah but, the Dodge has a unreliable weak transmission compared the the Allison blah blah..."

This new 6spd automatic AISAN (was that it?) will probably be a winner. I would highly bet it's overbuilt just like the Allison and Torqueshift and would think Dodge would make sure this trans doesn't sweat under hard use like ths 47/48RE's do, since I'm sure their reputation will be somewhat riding on this trans since they know so many people will be watching anxiously to see if it's a good unit, because of the past.

I don't really agree about the engine longevity thing with the newer 5.9's wearing out quicker. I don't pay much attention to late 3rd gens much but guys are getting good 'ol average Cummins longevity out of older 12v's making more power their whole life than a 2005 CR ISBE. Who knows though.

Actually its Aisin, and if their name is on it you can rest asured that it will be practically bombproof, just like everything they build.

    That's a good read.

"With the variable geometry turbo it can now be used as an exhaust brake. You can order as a factory option the controls to make the turbo function as an exhaust brake. All of the mechanicals are there in the turbo, but it needs the controls to function. It is quoted as being able to provide 35% more braking than the existing butterfly valve exhaust brakes."

Nice to see that coming strait from the factory.waytogo One thing I've always wondered is why they narrow the axles on the dually cab and chassis, seems to me you would be giving up some of the stabillity you gain from runing duals. It looks like this could turn out to be one very good truck, as long as they have all the emisions figured out without giving up reliabillity. Stupid treehuggers, if they would just use there power to get bio-deisel easily available the world would be a better place.

Sure...our Rams are better built in both quality, features, and strength over our Chevies that are the same vintage as the late 90's GM trucks.:stir:

I have no idea about this new Aisin trans, I was just having fun with Brent.

Of course you could out tow the 6 banger in my old White forklift, but give it a break, it's still got points and a single barrel. Since you drive a Dmax(giggle) you couldn't be refering to my Ram...I mean obviously.:D
