With alot of encouragement from the wife I have decided to keep my current tow rig, 02 2500HD with the 6 liter. Is there anything out there that will boost the torque? It pulls fine I just want it to have a little more low end power. Thanks

I would start with the usual- exhaust and intake improvements, then think about a reflash. Westers Garage has a great reputation, and there are many others.

Have you thought about a new ecm. or a programmer. They do not do as well as the diesel ones but still decent

My dad put a programmer in his 6.0 and said WOW. It also boosted our unloaded mileage to about 17-18. Made a real seat of the pants difference. I think headers and a decent muffler would help even more.

We put a Diablosport Downloader/Programmer on a 6.0 2500 4x4 and he is very hapy with it. COuldn't tell you about mileage because he drives kinda hard and just after we installed it he moved to Colorado.

Hypertech. We only have it on the second setting so we can still run 87 gas and it works great. Even with a 6k fifth wheel behind it it will flat out move. Still needs a little more on the hills but that is part rear end (3.73's) and part gasser. I want to put a tranny temp guage so we can let the motor spin a little more up the hills.

I think the 6.0 gets a bad rap simply because of how powerful the Dmax is. With long tube headers, exhaust, intake, and programmer, I think you'll be more than happy. Granatelli makes some complete kits that include headers, rockers, and programmers for a mild bump in power over stock. Before you consider a blower I'd pull the heads off and get em worked and bump the cam up. AFR makes some killer heads too, but they are expensive. The F-body boys are making incredible power on pump gas, building a 500hp/500tq 6.0 wouldn't be too difficult. SLP makes 402 stroker kits and engine packages that put out more than that. Superchargers make power too, but IDK about towing with the boost on a stock bottom end, pistons specifically. Although the roots/ screw style blowers are an easy bolt on and run really well, I'd like to see someone bolt on a centrifigal blower and use a D-max intercooler to keep the temps down.

I was out shopping today for a 6.0 2500HD and could not find any locally for sale. I did find one with the 8.1 which was a nice truck but I really think I want to stay with the 6.0. I find it hard to believe that you can get 17 to 18 mpg out of one but look forward to giving it a shot.:D
