I've been shopping flat bed car haulers and just wanted to get your thoughts on some things. A dove tail looks pretty convienent, but a tilt bed looks even more painless. Which do you guys prefer? Also, I've found a tilt bed dove tail combo for $3200. What do you guys think?
low boy or deck over? if a low boy i would just get a dove tail. if a deck over i would get a dove tail with some 6 foot ramps. a tilt deck is nice, but they weigh more as well and can be interesting to load with cars and trucks you care a lot about. a tilt deck will weigh a few hundred pounds more and if you are already going to be pusing a trailer to its limits for weight it just emans you have that much less capacity. long ramps as you know makes it that much easier to load.
I wouldn't think the extra coin would be worth a tilt bed unless it came with a sweet winch... it's hard enough getting a dead car on a trailer, much less having to get it all the way up before the trailer levels out. My 20' tag car hauler has enough spring flex and leverage that the dove tail will bottom out anyway. great for loading dirt moving equipment and trucks, but I still have to get the ramps out for cars. either way, once you get up on the trailer, the back end is on the ground.
