my buddy just bought a egde comp and he has a 5 speed dwr and on level 5 the pick up dosent seem to run right. it surges and doesnt feel like it is putting out the power it should. and the smoke level isnt where it should because there isnt that much and i think that there should be. :doah:
A little confused on what year your truck is, the Race Pro is for the second gen and you are posting the the third gen forum? Check the lift pump if it is a 99-02, it could be weak and not supplying the fuel, very common!
to clear it up to clear things up its an 03 5 speed dually 2wd with the edge comp with attiude(i think thats the right name it might be juice). but when it you cruising down the road and put it to the floor it will surge on any level and shut it offand seem like it goes back to stock . i was thinkin that might just have a software problem and would need to be sent back or it could be something else. feed back would be great thankswaytogo
does the thing have a stock clutch? if it does, and the chip is set to de-fuel with clutch slippage that would explain your 'surging'... and it's not a bad thing to not have a ton of black smoke... black smoke is just wasted fuel (although it looks cool)imp:
your right 4054x4 i asked him and he said that he had bout a 100000 on the stock cluch and sometimes has trouble going into gear. he drives kind of hard so i am sure thats is what is making it defuel. thanks!!
i drove my buddies pick up and it acted like the clutch was slipin so i shut off the slip safety and it still surged. but that surge seems more like a buck and drops off. the temp limiter was at 210 so i turned it up to 230 that might fix it? its probaly best to call edge and have then take care of it but any feed back would be appercated again
well... if it's not defueling on purpose then it might be straining for enough fuel w/ the chip turned up. tell him to take it somewhere and get the fuel pump checked out cuz it might be going out. does it surge when the chip is turned off? if the surging gets worse when you turn the chip up my next guess would be the fuel pump.
