1st anyone ever tow with an extended hitch? Comments.... 2nd what is your opinon on useing an extended hitch to tow my K5 with? I am a bit leary to go with this type of setup, just seams the tongue weight is away from the tow rig. Does this cause any type of negative towing experiances? or will my towrig tow the same as if there was no extension? Thanks Fellaswaytogo
Repost! I'll need to get the extension too, I personally think that the SuperHitch would be a stronger setup with an extension than the Titan, but I guess people use the Titan without a problem. I sure as hell wouldn't do it without a W/D setup though.

Oh ya keep in mind that comarrison is for the max extension of 48", I would only need 18" if I got the camper I am looking at. I am guessing as I really have NO CLUE what I NEED....to tow with a slide in that does not fit flush
I think I know which one I would go with. Although you already have the Titan. It would suck to spend a bunch of money on an extention for the Titan just to find out it didn't feel safe and have to go dump a bunch more money into the SuperHitch. I think I might just get the Superhitch for the kind of load you plan on pulling, Shaggy. Marc
I have the Titan true class 5 hitch with the 48 inch extention. The tube is very weak I have had to have two bars replace due to the bending. My tounge weight was 250lbs. I will have on the truck this summer the Torklift hitch assembly. http://www.torklift.com/receiverhitchcomparison.htm Another thing to think about is when the truck with camper is going down the road and bouncing up and down due to the uneven road. Remember if you have a trailer the tounge is also pushing up and down causing more psi on the hitch it self. hope this helps
The 96 F350 I just bought has the Superhitch set-up on it. The PO kept the extension, but I got the hitch still. Anyway, when I was asking him aout it, he used the 36" extension with a 6500 lb (loaded) trailer. He had a 3500 llb 11' slide-in camper. He said with the WD set-up, he towed through the mountains all over Colorado with no problems at all.
The Tork-lift system is awesome for towing heavy with an extension but is pricey. I tow my Jeep on 7000lb GTW tandem with a 10' slide-in and a 18" extension and it works fine but with the 18" extension and the slide-in, you pretty much have to have the WD hitch. I'm grossing 19,300lbs with with the 3500, camper, Jeep and trailer loaded to go and the truck drives fine but it is not fine without the WD hitch!

That is a sweet WD hitch!.....That will solve any potential problems....I hope your slide-in is reasonably light - lots of weight for a SRW!...how much does the K5 and trailer weigh?
Ya the camper I have my eyes on is 1500lb gross dry weight. It is a pop-up style. I have the long bed CCab so my tow rig is super long. I have read that helps too. I have never towed anything bigger than a fishing boat (well with my Blazer I towed a duck hunting blind the size of a 1 car garage with 26-55gal drums to keep it floating on the lake but I never went over 25mph). I have not weighed my blazer but I would guess 6K and my trailer is probly around 2500lb ( I have to call them and get the weight specs still) So I am planing for 8500lb tow load at this point. waytogo I also ditched my factory GM hitch for a Reese Titan Class 5 hitch imp:
