Ford Motor Co. sued Navistar International Corp., the supplier of diesel engines for one of the automaker's most important models, in a contract dispute over warranty costs and engine prices, Bloomberg reported.

Navistar, the parent of International Truck and Engine Corp., builds diesel engines for Ford's Super Duty pickup trucks, which make up about 40% of Ford's F-Series truck sales, Bloomberg said.

The lawsuit, filed in a Michigan state court, alleges Navistar owes Ford money under an agreement to share engine-related warranty costs, Bloomberg reported.

The automaker also said in the lawsuit that Navistar began raising prices for 6.4-liter engines "without adequate explanation or support for its actions," according to Bloomberg.

Navistar spokesman Roy Wiley told Bloomberg the lawsuit was "totally without merit and we'll vigorously respond in court." L&MT

That isn't good news, I guess if the new engine flops like the 6 litre did there partnership might end. This can be the last straw.

Court Delays Ford-Navistar Hearing to Next Week

A court hearing on a Ford Motor Co. contract dispute with engine maker Navistar International Corp. has been postponed until next week, Bloomberg reported.

The two had were scheduled to make presentations Friday in Oakland County, Mich., Circuit Court to resolve their dispute over Navistar diesel engines in Ford pickup trucks, which threatens to disrupt production of Ford’s profitable F-Series line, Bloomberg said.

Roy Wiley, a Navistar spokesman, confirmed the new date would be next Wednesday. The hearing will be a private briefing for the judge, a Ford spokesman said.

Navistar is the parent company if International Truck and Engine Corp., which makes Class 4-8 diesel engines.
