i have seen it done, and i like it... anybody know how much room i should have the seamstress leave around the stacks? should i have them add in an inch of leather just to make sure as well? any pictures on how others did it? thanks Grant
I like the idea of the leather. That would be the way to go. Install the stacks and then take measurements for the seamstress. I like it too!waytogo
I've been looking for a solution for awhile. Leather sounds like a possible option. My concern is the heat building up under the cover. In traffic, in town, whatever... My cover is on 80% of the time. The only time I remove it is to tow the 5th wheel, or carry something home in the bed of the truck. Currently the cover gets velcro'd up against the cab. Not if I add stacks. I'm thinking maybe one of the retactable covers might work, but the stacks would be coming thru where the retracting mech. sits. Sounds like custom work no matter how you look at it.
i think i will go with one of the roll up models, and make some adjustments. while the cover goes to the seamstress, it will also get the clips moved so that in the rolled up position, it will be a couple inches away from the stacks. heat build up is a good though, so i think an air hole or two around the stacks, maybe in a nice desigh, will be added as well. as with EVERY project, all i needs is money and time... lol Grant
