6 speed manual

    when did they have the 6 speed manual transmission. And what year 2500 is the best to buy from a 2000 to 2002

    2002 H.O trucks had the 6 speed NV5600. 2002 is the last year of the 2nd gen body style and is the least likely year to have lift pump issues and "53" casting engine block issues.

    For those reasons, I have a 2002.

    Anytime! '02 trucks still really need to have a fuel pressure gauge installed, just like all VP44 trucks.

    '01 and '02 NV-5600 equipped trucks also had the tranny with a bigger input shaft than the 2 years before....

    There was something with the early 01 manual trans. Neighbor found out the hard way, couldn't get the original 01 trans rebuilt. And the replacement trans required a different clutch and flywheel setup. $4000 :doah: later he was back on the road.
