Thinking about getting a Gear Vendors under/over drive for my dodge with a automatic transmission. Anyone have comments or experience?

I have one on my 90, love it. Works great! Are you looking at an underdrive or overdrive? I have an overdrive as teh 90 didn't have overdrive stock.

anyone mind explaining what exactly this is? I have a general idea. This is some sort of gear set... that goes somwhere in the driveline ... that allows for the equivalint of 1st 2nd, 2nd and a half, 3rd, third and a half and so on. How does it work? How is it activated? do you have to depress the clutch in a manual? where in the driveline does is go? ???

When I'm loaded, I am looking for 3rd-over. When I am empty, looking for the overdrive-over.

The way the tech at Gear Vendors explained it, It would attach after my transfer case. I would have to have my driveshaft shorted. With the type of engagement, can put engaged and disengaged under full throttle.

Yes, you are correct. The US gear CAN be installed between the tcase and transmission. But, in an OD use, that would not really be of much use.

It will bolt up behind the t case and can engage under a load as it uses clutches. 3rd over would be perfect, as the GV is about a 20% od, and the stocker is about 30%.

How does that work with an automatic transmission? Do you have to shift it manually, or does it shift automaticaly? Does any one here have one on a newer truck, lets hear from you.waytogo
