hey guys, alot of u know alot mroe about these trucks than me since i'm a newbie, so i am asking for peoples lists or thoughtson what it would take to build a safe 35-400hp and still get descent milage. all thoughts r welcome, i am building the tranny myself with red clutch dics and a shift kit and billet converter.
i'm new, but i think you can do this fairly easy.with a few modifications to your pump.Start with a fuel plate, exhaust, airfilter & a gsk.
Good luck on building the tranny. There are experts in this, especially the diesels for good reason. I'm not doubting your skills, I just know how many updates there are inside these transmissions for higher HP trucks. 400hp is easy. 4" exhaust a cold air intake, give Duluth Diesel a call. The Icebox is a great cold air intake. Fuel plate, I recommend a Custom ground 100 plate. Shoot me a PM and I'll get you a picture of the profile, you can grind it yourself. Governor spring kit, 3000rpm. Injectors, I'd recommend Dragon Flys from Industrial Injection. 191 Delivery Valves a Phat Shaft (or Super Phat Shaft) 62 from Industrial injection. Set the timing to 16* Now....the problem you are going to have with all that is headgasket issues. I'd recommend getting at least the new Cometic headgasket and studs for the power level you are looking for. DD www.tripledperformance.com
The exhaust manifold isn't a bad idea. The stockers tend to shrink causing the bolts to either break off or break the ears off the head.
ok thankyou, i have one more question, i'm going ot check tomorrow if my afc housing is full forward, because i just dont have much smoke even at full throttle it might have a heavy haze but no black and i have 12 clicks toward the motor on the starwheel, any ideas on some more smoke for those rice burners?, and i have seen on cut away pics of the afc housing a smoke screw on the back is that allowed to be adjusted or leave it alone?
You can run the AFC full forward, and the starwheel full forward. The purpose of the AFC is to control low end fueling. You will only have "smoke" till the turbo spools.
