I am new here and have a question I need some help with. I bought a new tahoe transport GSS 3950. It is a tow hauler. My concern is the rating on the pin box. my trl has a gvw of 17,500lbs, and the rating on my pin box is labeled 15,500lbs. I installed an 20 k hitch, so I am good there. I am just concerend that my box is under rated. I have spoken to the manufacturer twice and have been told that it is fine. But, I am not sure it is legal. I just don't want to find out the hard way, that it is not. I have read that the CHP is looking hard at tripple axle trailers. Also, I tow doubles with this set up. And yes I am legal to do so(class 1 w/ every endorsment), and not over weight on my axles, tires, etc. Only on pin box. I guess I could just peel the sticker off. But for what I bought i think it should be legal from the factory.

    thanks in advance--tiny

You will probably be alright with the pin box but I agree...if your spending a big chunk of change on a trailer it should come rated at least as high as the GVW. I would call the dealer and tell them about it and if they refuse to do anything tell them that you will call the manufacturer and raise some hell. The manufacturer wont like that one of their distributors is not representing them well. Let us know what happens!!

BTW do you have any more pics of your rig??? It looks sweet:cool:

I agree, I have a call in to the factory now. I just think they should change it, but it does not sound like they care, yet!

Maybe not but the DOT or NHTSA might care a little bit!! Also if they do "Fix" it make sure they dont just slap a sticker with a higher rating on there.
