    On a monthly average how often do you think you use 4wd in your tow rig?

    I probably average using 4wd about 1.5 times a month or so. Pretty much never during the summer but a few times in the spring, fall, and winter. I am busy on the farm in the spring and fall so I use it occasionally then and am a snowmobiler and hit the mountains almost every weekend during the winter months.

    I bet I probably use mine 4-6 times a year tops. But I do use low range alot while moving stuff around the yard. One of my main reasons to own a 4x4 is ride height. I find it helps in this town full of idiots when trying to drive anywhere.

    In the winter time I use mine at least a couple times a week maneuvering around the yard, in spring summer and fall it all depends on where I am going, but I would say at least 1-2 times a month in the 3 non winter seasons. It may be a costlier option up front, but absolutely priceless when you have to use it.

    Thats the exact reason I got 4wd. Just yesterday I was backing our 16' work trailer up a long sloped concrete driveway. the Driveway was wet from the sprinklers and my tires started to spin and make a loud racket. So i just popped it in neutral and pushed the Low Range button and Idled the rest of the way up!! waytogo

    Never, but thats because my tow rig is 2wd. I would of liked it but i got a smoking deal on the truck that i couldnt pass on, as far as ride hieght GM puts the same suspension on thier HD trucks regardless if they are 2 or 4wd. Its funny because a guy i work with has a z71 and my 2500HD towers over it in the parking lot

    Me third, especially with SFA Dodges. I guess it doesn't matter with GM's but with us Dodge boys we get a factory 4" lift basically when equipped with 4WD. waytogo

    Probably 75% of the times I tow out to a trail, most places are soft dirt and with 14k pounds behind me 2wd doesn't work too well. Hell we get stuck in 4wd alot...

    Used it at pismo this last weekend but still got stuck, but then again I got to see two chevy trucks with IFS break cv shafts while I didn't break my axle :stir: rotfl But I guess to be fair I should mention one of those trucks had 36's while the other was stock. Oh and a guy in our club's cv's were making a bad racket but he was on 33's or so towing a trailer through the dunes so I can understand that one.

    I had mine in 4Hi while towing on the beach. Other than that I have only had it in 4wd during traffic jams on my commute as a way to help breakin the front diff. I did get stuck in the soft sand cuz I still had 70lbs of pressure. :doah: After airing down my 4wd got me out and on firmer sand waytogo
    Being my towrig is for towing my 4x4 I will be taking it into areas 4wd is needed or at the very least a good insurance/tool to have incase the trail head/camp is a bit 'off the beatin path'. waytogo

    No i dont. My K5 was bought for towing my last trail rig toyota, it tows my boat(s), and will be towing my new toyota as soon as it gets finished being built. Its currently in pieces while i build the front axle, motor, and assemble the dual cases, though. Should be done by mid June.

    I use mine to get just a little "further than the rest" when im camping.Sometimes in loose sand or overnight rains I find myself needing 4wd to "untrack" where I had pulled in/parked before in 2wd.Quite handy.....but is the weight/cost worth it? In my case,yes. A new truck purchase...im not fully convinced,yet. :)

    I use mine Id say, averaging out the amount of times I use it during the winter, over the course of a year, Id say average monthly use is about 5-6 times.. I use it constantly in the winter, since I live in the snowy country in winter. I almost bought a 2wd truck when I was buying, but the price difference was only about $1500 so there was no reason to buy a 2wd for me.

    Took the Jeep out wheelin today and had to use 4wd on my towrig to get to the trail head. The dirt road going to the trail was hard acked dirt with loose dirt on top. Thats almost as bad as driving on Ice. Had to put it i 4wd to get up some of the hills w/o throwing gravel all over the trailer.

    2wd=lame :stir:
    4wd=priceless
