What is the best way to charge a breakaway battery?

Can I use my 12 volt battery charger on the 2 amp / trickle charge setting?

    Willyswanter,

What setup do you have for charging from your truck?

Note this for a flatbed trailer not a travel trailer.

Anything with brakes should, if I remember correctly, have a 6 or 7-pin RV connector. If all of this is wired properly on both TV and towed, the alternator will charge the battery on the trailer.

If you're using a 7 to 4 pin adapter, the battery won't charge.

If you don't have a 6 or 7-pin on your truck (you definately should on the trailer), just go down to the Auto Zone or whatever and pick one up. There should be instructions in the box...
