OK, I found a couple of new trailers that seem like good deals, let me know what you guys think... Option #1 - Carson trailer 10k GVWR, brakes on both axles plain douglas fir deck 6" Channel frame 3" crossmembers on 16" centers 16" 8 lug wheels 2' dovetail stake pockets No D-rings or rub rail 7k drop leg jack 82" wide 18' deck length including dovetail 2 5/16" ball Price is $2838 + tax, so about $3060 and I can pick it up next weekend, about $150 miles away, so $50 in fuel. Option #2 Kaufman trailer 10k GVWR, brakes on both axles treated deck 6" Channel frame 3" crossmembers on 16" centers 16" 8 lug wheels 2' dovetail 4 D-rings stake pockets and rub rail Flush mounted lights 7k drop leg jack 2 5/16" Bulldog hitch 83" wide 20' deck length including dovetail $3165 delivered to my door. This is basically everything I wanted in a trailer so I'm leaning this way, the main problem is that it may not make it in time for Blazerfest in July, in which case I'd be upset. The advantage goes to the Kaufman for a rub rail, d-rings, spare tire and wheel, treated deck, flush mounted lights, an inch more deck width and a Bulldog hitch. The Carson has the advantage purely for availability and $75.
Well you can treat the deck in 10min with thompsons water seal.. The D-rings you can add SO the carson has no resessed light? Thats dumb... Ya the Kaufman does sound better...but damn two moths?? My PJ was ordered and delivered in 4weeks. To your DOOR is perrty freakin sweet...Can you pick it up and save a couple weeks? You HAVE TO have it for BF opcorn:
OK, I did it. WTF it's only money, right? I ordered the Kaufman, supposed to be 4-5 weeks to my door. I added a breakaway box to it because I figured I might as well have all the options. Final specs are - 9990k GVWR, 5200lb axles, brakes on both axles treated deck 6" Channel frame 3" crossmembers on 16" centers 16" 8 lug wheels 2' dovetail 4 D-rings spare tire mounted to tongue stake pockets and rub rail Flush mounted lights 7k drop leg jack 2 5/16" Bulldog hitch breakaway box 83" wide 20' deck length including dovetail 5' ramps
Holy crap, a pig just flew by my window and I just got a pop up for a new ski resort in Hades. Shaggy bought something without researching it for 6 months first. rotfl :stir:
$395 for delivery on a tag trailer anywhere in the US. Total price including delivery was about $3200. Pretty good deal if you ask me... imp: Marker, I've been researching for 6 months, this is the place I was planning on going through all along, I was just trying to save money going used first.
YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! Good job dude, sounds AWSOME! See ya at the fest! waytogo
Congrats on the trailer. waytogo Kauffman builds some really nice ones for allot less money than you expect to spend. Now if you see a white Dodge dually pull up when you take delivery you better be ready to talk. That’s the guy that runs the place and he is a really nice guy but man he can talk the ears off a wooden Indian…if you didn’t catch that over the phone already.
Cool, he has one made now that he called and asked me if I wanted instead so I could get it earlier, it had all of the same stuff except it was 18' overall with a 4' dovetail. The dove was steel and the deck was treated wood. I passed on it, figured since I waited this long I could wait another couple of weeks to get exactly what I want.
Nope, they take the delivery charge as the deposit, which is $395, then you pay the balance COD when the trailer is delivered. Not sure what's up with the deposit though since it was never actually charged to my credit card. (Shhhh )
i have a kaughman trailer and i tell ya what... I LOVE IT!! the price was GREAT!! the service was awesome and the trailer build quality is 110% worth the money. the price differance you are lookign at is well worth it.
They keep frickin pushing the ship date back, it's pissing me off. Now it looks like I might miss Blazerfest entirely since it may not be here until late next Friday. Originally he said that I'd have it the first week in July at the latest.
I have his trailer at my house, but if I tried to put my truck on it the wheels would probably fall off
Yeah, that might be my only other option. I should know tomorrow if mine will be here, the thing is, if it arrives on say, Friday, I have to be here to take delivery. So even if I can get another trailer to use I'll have to come home on the day of delivery so I can pay the driver the balance on mine. I guess it's only 45 minutes to get home from HH though so it's not that huge of deal.
