I'll apologize in advance.....Sorry for the stupid question!

What exactly is a "running mile?" I am guessing it is any mile travelled for hire, loaded or not. Is this it, or am I totally off base? Thanks in advance for your replies!

Well I've never heard of "running miles" before per se. Usually you're only paid for loaded miles, but if you agree to pay for unloaded miles en route to the pickup then that's deadhead. What context was it in? If nobody else comes up with anything I can ask my boss Monday and see what he says.

    Thanks for the reply.

I am retiring in October and am looking at hauling RV's for a few years. Most transport companies I have been in contact with quote "loaded mile" rates. I have received another information package from another transport company, and the rate is based on "running miles."

"Loaded miles" is self explanitory but i need some clarification regarding "running miles." I have yet to contact this transport company as I am still digesting the information provided by them and other transpoirt companies.

Well boss man said he's never really heard of a running mile either but he'd assume it's paid for all miles, deadhead and loaded. Doesn't sound like a bad deal. What's the going per mile rate for hauling RV's anyway? Sounds like a neat thing to get into.

In Canada, it is in the area of $1.25/loaded mile.
