Just curious, is it the norm when you order a rig to have your deposit be non-refundable?

That's pretty dependent on the dealer, I special ordered a truck with a wierd combo of equipment and they didn't even want a deposit on it.

Depends on the dealer. All dealers take a deposit on a special order truck. Most will have a back out time you have to agree with to recive you deposit back.

Then there are dealers here in colorado that will give your deposit back even after the truck has shown up at the dealer they know they will still be able to sell the truck they may not make as much on the deal because it was what you wanted not what some else wanted but they will still sell it.

My dealer wanted a HUGE deposit but I argued and we settled on a $500.00 deposit and it was refundable if they did not come through with the truck as ordered.

When we ordered the 05 F250, we had to put a 1000 dollar deposit down, but it was a 6spd truck, and the dealer we ordered from was over 700 miles away. For the price they gave me, I had no problems laying out that money.
