How high will they have to go before you start to think about picking up a small commuter car for a daily driver? :doah:

About $2.75 to $3.00 a gallon for reg. unleaded. It is $2.34 right around here. It also helps to have a friend that owns a car lot that will sell to me for wholesell price :D

Im starting to give thought to stealing my Fiancee's hyundai accent (2000) for a commuter, but she won't drive my truck, so Im not sure how that would work out for her.

These fuel prices are getting freakin outrageous. I thought the whole reason we are in the middle east is so we can steal there oil

I've been over there 3 times and every year the prices keep going up??

You don't think we are actually over there to help those poor people do you?? :stir:

One of the main reasons I bought a diesel pickup was for the better fuel mileage. At that time fuel was usually cheaper than regular gas and hardly ever rose above it. Now, even with getting 16-17 average I don't think it's enough to over come the extra cost of the fuel itself to actually save over having a standard small block gas engine, much less actually work on paying for the extra cost of the diesel option. Especially when engines like the 6.0 GM are getting 11-13 or so average empty, from what I hear.

The worst part about it is that they have to be rapping us over because they can, not for any solid reason. Diesel is a by product of gas in the first place!

IIRC the bulk of the cost of diesel is road tax. Since the bulk of the diesel used is by the large trucks which tend to do the most wear and tear on the roads they tax the wee outta diesel.

I am so glad my commute to work consists of walking across the dirt road. I can go a month and the only travelling I do is a few trips to the grocery store a couple blocks away. Now the boss on the other hand cries every time we need gas. Between the mowers, tractors, and work trucks The cemetery wound up using out it's yearly funds by July and now had to be supported by the monument company we own (separate business) or it wouldn't get taken care of.
