Will the 3rd Gen rims fit the 2nd gen pick-ups? The dealer I bought my pick-up from said that the 16inch aluminum rims from the 2000 models won't fit. Told me they changed the suspension and they won't mount up sounds kinda like b/s to me but come on guys give me some input. Know a guy that has some 3rd gen rims.

The 17" 3rd gen wheels will work far as I know, I see a lot of 2nd's with them.

What the deal is, is that the late model 2nd gen aluminums will not fit on earlier models that had steel wheels.

I was told that the 3rd generation had bigger brakes and thats why the wheel is now a 17" and RJF is right, I have seen some 3rd generation wheels on 2nd generation trucks but not the other way around.

The brakes are bigger on the 3rd gens, requiring a 17" wheel.

The thickness of the 2nd gen alums vs. the steels is different. They changed the caliper mounting or something, my 2001 alums won't fit on a '99 with steels.

Well RJF, I was told they changed to suspension but I couldn't figure out how that would change the bolt pattern but I bet your right.

I would also bet that the 3 gen won't fit my 99 either. If the 2000-2002 won't fit, why would the 2003 fit the steel wheeled pick-ups, you know what I mean. Any who I'll bet those 2nd gens ya'll saw were 00-02 ones. I guess i'll have to go another route.

No no no, the bolt patterns are all the same, thats not what changed. 17" 3rd gens should fit on any of the 2nd gens.

Why the late 2nd gen alums won't fit is because they won't clear the backing plate, from what I have heard. It's either the thickness of the aluminum vs. the factory steel wheels, or they are a different offset.
