I read that Engine with 53"block have a history of cracking, which models have this block?
    Thanks

There will be no 53 blocks in a 3rd gen, 2003 and up. IIRC, some early '03's possibly had 47's, but I don't think that lasted long. Basically, if it's a 3rd gen it's got a 48RE.

The early 2003 with the CA emmisions SO trucks (235hp) had the 47re, but after that they are 48RE. 53 blocks were mexican built blocks from 98-2000.
