i have a friend with a 94 3/4ton 5 speed . 140k miles on the truck. cold starts like crap and puts out black smoke till warm and runs bad major lack of power till warm. when warm just a small power drop. have changed the fuel filter and run some anti gell and anti fungus stuff in the tank.

any help would be great guys.

Check the over flow valve at the front of the fuel pump on the engine side . Take it apart and inspect for trash between the ball and seat. Give the spring a little streach aswell. Also check the rubber fuel hoses from the frame to the engine for cracks. Have you guys looked at the condition of the air cleaner?

Check those rubber fuel hoses like stated by dhitcher, the 94-95's are notorious for dry/cracking of those lines.
