Been lurking for a while and figured I might as well register and say hello. My junk.....\/ http://gallery.turbotime.us/albums/myclone/acd.jpg
Thanks for the welcome... The grille is an ebay item (import/aftermarket I believe) that is molded in black plastic and the bumper came from a group purchase deal on www.fullsizechevy.com. I dont care for import parts but I wanted a black grille without painting it so it wouldnt be succeptable to rock chips showing over time so I scoured ebay and found one. It fits decent and serves the purpose where as Ive tried sanding/painting GM chrome grilles with limited success with resistance to rock chips. Smooth paintable front bumpers can be had at just about any after market site like Sylin Concepts, Traders, etc for cheap. IMO they are base model truck bumpers that are purchased by the retail outlets before the chroming process as the W/T (work trucks) have a smooth chromed bumper factory. HTH
OK, thanks, I have seen the paintable ones on ebay also, in fact that is where I picked up a rear non-chrome Z71 bumper.
I was cleaning up my photo gallery and ran across a couple of vids of me having some fun with the dually that you guys might enjoy. I was getting new tires the next day so I figured Id punish the worn out rears one last time the way any gear head would. Enjoy: http://gallery.turbotime.us/albums/myclone/aed.mpg http://gallery.turbotime.us/albums/myclone/aee.mpg BTW, this is what the truck looked like when I first got it before I painted it. Ugggh, welcome to 1988 . http://gallery.turbotime.us/gallery/myclone/acb
Yeah its a gasser with the 80E. The trans does fine but the big block is down on torque a little when towing compared to the oil burners. The camera man and myself arent quite sure what that was since the truck is bone stock right down the factory muffler. We think it was the tires but then again the alternator siezed up a couple weeks later on the way to my wedding so it might have been the bearings in it whining. There was a little trickery in the vid too.... To keep from wearing out/over heating the rear brakes we lightly clamped the rear flex line to keep the rear brakes from being applied since its no fun (or cheap) to put brake shoes on a full floating axle.
