I'm trying to get my 93' G30 Hi cube back on the road to feed some hungry kids. It was a airforce or navy vehicle used to shuttle pilots. It has a 6.2 natural. It has been hard starting when hot, now in winter wont start when cold either. From what I read it sounds like the injection pump. I found a military surplus rebuild for a good price (under $400)but don't know if it will fit and don't have my pump numbers. The new pump is E4 DB2 829 4523. It also comes with set of injectors which I can only guess match the pump (no numbers given for them). I don't want to pull the pump first because I still get her running by giving an extended glowplug time via a manual switch I put in (this would get her going when not start hot happened) and then giving a quick but good shot of start fluid while cranking. I know it's risky. I don't mind hearing opinions on that either, more experience the better. This summer the manuel glow plug trick didn't work when hot so I tryed adding about 40% clean veggie oil to the tank. Figuredthe added viscosity could help. This worked great. No problems after that all summer. I ran the tank right down and have had two full tanks of clean diesel since then in preparation for winter. Thank you much for taking the time to read and reply.
