I've read that it takes a little bit before you begin to see the better mileage after the triple dog download. About how many miles does that take before the better mileage kicks in? I have about 1000 miles on the upgrade and haven't seen much yet.

Also, what is the best setting for best mileage? Bully Dog states that performance is the best setting, but I've read online that Crazy Larry is the best. Anybody able to give an opinion and/or history on this?

    Thanks.

ive got the bully dog, and my mileage went up instantly. i just run on the tow setting. every once in a while i run on the performance setting, and really dont notice a diff in fuel mileage. i have only run on the crazy larry a couple of times, and try and stay away from it. my cluch might as well not be there when its on that setting. but mine has gone up between 1 and 2 mpg.

If you are very nice to the throttle Crazy Larry will give the best mileage.

Should show instantly (ish). Are you driving more aggressive with the Bully Dog installed?

    Crazy Larry Driving

I'm driving only slightly more aggressive with Crazy Larry. I've really tried to drive like I did before (that is, like somebody's grandma!). I do think I'm beginning to get better mileage, but I must wait for the next fuel fill-up. The computer read-out is way off now, I think.

The overhead is an estimate based on inputs including throttle position, turbo boost, vehicle speed, ect. Because the motor puts out more power at a given throttle position the over head is way off. For instance, on CL you added 230hp to the stock tune of lets say 290 on an 06. So, at 50% throttle at 65 mph and 10psi boost it knows how much fuel it should be consuming. Now you have nearly doubled the amount of power, mostly from added fuel. The ECM is not prepared for this. So, instead of cruising at 50% throttle like stock you cruise at 30% throttle making the same amount of power. The ECM thinks you are making less power, thus less fuel is used, and your overhead mileage goes up.

yeh i figured that thing got its info from the boost and all that stuff from stock settings, everything in these trucks is completely computerized now, its just rediculous! but o well! but when the chip isnt on the truck, that thing is pretty dang accurate though.

Never rely onthe overhead for your mileage, I've done my by hand since I got the truck and get aroung 20 MPG Cdn.
Can't wait till my BDTD gets here! waytogo

Got mine in now, have been running on extreme the last few days.
I hear CL is the best for economy but I'm scared to run that with my stock clutch, besides, extreme is plenty-o-power anyhow. waytogo

I imagine if you keep your foot out of it mileage will improve, but that's pretty hard! :D
