Yesterday when leaving work under a load, going up hill my 'Check Guages' light came on and the voltage guage had dropped down, but all my electrical was working. I drove home and re-started it, and the light was off...and the voltage guage was slightly lower than usual, but still within operational range. I then drove and the same thing happend. This time it wasn't under a load. But again all the electrical was working. Has anyone got any ideas what could cause this? I checked the battery and they are getting 12.46 volts when running. They both are charged up. I'm thinking it's a possible wire issue somewhere...but don't know where to begin looking.
Turns out my alternator was dying a slow death. It was charging when first cranked and when the light came on it was no longer charging. But this week it wasn't charging at all. I replaced it, and it's running great again.
