Okay, a friend of mine just finished off his clutch after 82000 miles. The truck is a 03 Dodge, crew cab dually, four wheel drive. The tranny is the NV 5600. If any of you are into the off road scene then you may be familiar with his off road rig, T-Rex. It is a six wheel drive, lime green full sized Dodge pickup, that weighs in at 10,000 lbs. He hauls it on a tandem goose-neck trailer with a camper on the trailer. The whole rig, including tow rig, weighs in at about 25,500 lbs. The question is what kind of clutch would any of you recomend for pulling this kind of load and daily driving? Also, does anybody run after market brakes on their tow rigs and if so then what brand do you recomend? He knows that he is pushing the limits of the rig, but the tow rig has more than enough muscle to move the weight and with the trailer the weight is manageable. Any thoughts would be greatly appriciated.
    Thanks again,
    LT.

Well, does the tow rig have any power upgrades or does he plan any? If not, or if they are minimal, I would use the South Bend OFE. It will hold very well, but will not buck nearly as bad when backing as a more agressive clutch will.

As far as brakes, we are actually running a special on Powerslot brake Rotors and Hawk Brake pads. That should really help him slow it down.

How about an exhaust brake? Does he have one? BD builds an awesome brake if he doesn't.

Let me know if we can help!waytogo

Sir, yes the truck has a Bully Dog Power Pup and the Outlook monitor. He also has a cold air intake made by Bully Dog and a 4" exhaust that is straight piped. When he does pull he will set the Power Pup on the towing mode. This also keeps his EGT's in the approiate range, below 1100 degrees at peak it is set to defuel at 1250 degrees. I had mentioned an exhaust brake made by BD diesel. From what I could tell it looked to be the best one. It should be getting installed within the next week or so. Do you have the ability to do mail orders? And where are you located? Thanks for your prompt answer.

We are located in Sacramento, CA. Yes, we do ship out products, all over the place. To you its about 2 days, assuming you are in NM. BD is an awesome brake, best in my book. Cleanest install around too.waytogo
