How long does the Fifth Wheel Lube Plate last? I am heading out west and do I need to unhitch and replace this along the route or will it last both back and forth from NH to Wyoming?

Should be fine it you have sufficent lube look how many 18 wheelers you dont see stopped so they can lube I know the plates on our delivery trucks are very heavily lubed.

Put grease on it, you should never need to replace it, basically ever.

well that is the reason I am using a fifth wheel lube plate so I don't have to put any grease on it. And being a plastic like disc that goes between the pin and fifth wheel plate does it wear out fast or what?

Those things last for quite a while. No need to worry but replacing during a run.

    why grease?

I've been running the same one for over 3 yrs now, and don't see why I would have to replace it ever. I agree, the reason I am running one is to avoid having to grease the top plate of my hitch. I do grease the mechanical parts of my hitch, but have been told that the lube plate is there in lieu of grease. I won't be using anything other than my lube plate till I see a failure in how the lube plate works.....Kong

I guess I don't get it. It's simple, you crack open a grease cartridge and smear half of it on the fifth wheel and roll....

Duh!!!! We know how to lube our plates, it's the fact that we don't want all that grease to contend with when installing and removing the hitch. I put mine in and out as needed. The lube plate works great dry, and if it's the purpose of the lube plate, why make a mess when you don't need to??? Kong

I'm with Kong. I have a 2000 Sportman with the same disc in place. 7 years going on 8. I may replace it next year or two, just becasue they are cheap and it can't hurt.

yes that is why I went with the lube plate is having that mess around with grandchildren while camping and getting messy when I remove the fifth wheel hitch for a clean pickup bed to get lumber and assorted items.
