Im thinking about getting some type of flat bed for my truck, and Im wondering does anyone know how much a stock 06 dodge dually bed weighs? Its a long box not a megga cab short box. Trying to get an idea of how much weight i will be adding or loosing. Most likely adding.

I had a flatbed on my 03 and I say DO IT!! So much more useful, less fragile, and easier in traffic, not to mention hooking up. Sorry, but DRW should come with one automatically and make the box and option.

I had a JMI and I would say that the bed added about 300 lbs, then I added 125lbs in side boxes and loaded them with about 1 ton of crap, lifted it, bigger tires . . . . .

Weigh your truck as she sits.

My truck, 2003 QC 4x4 6 speed, 2" spacers front/rear, 265 70R19.5 tires/wheels, flatbed, junk, stereo, weighed about 9600 lbs. However, if you ask the dumb @$$ that rear ended me, might as well have been 96,000 lbs, cause he hit a brick wall!rotfl

OK that works i guess. Ill run in to town later and run over the local grain elevator scale and see what mine weighs in at. What kind of bed is on yours D-Nut? Ive looked at a few different beds so far. I just think that for what im doing it would be much handier than the box. That way I could have lower built in tool boxes get an aux fuel cell built in and still have room to haul two bikes on the bed, or one side ways in front of the gooseneck.

I would just mount the bikes on the neck of your gooseneck also I do think flat bed are much more utilitarian I would like to have one myself.

On one of my goosenecks I have a 8ft platform above the goose and put bout 18 on the trailer main deck. If i can get more on the truck or trailer then alll the better. Ive been know to put one in the bed with the gooseneck anyway.

I think you should go for it cause the look of the beds are just awesome and they are very durable. My uncle has one for his truck and he lives on a farm and its very useful

IT kinda looks like this; pretty slick

carguy check out www.turnoverball.com the elite beds are kinda the style im lookin at. prob go with a local welder to build it for me but that is the basic concept. Extrra room for hauling, under bed tool boxes, lower reciver, some type of built in aux fuel tank, kinda of what im looking for.

i need both really, 5th and goose, i mean. I pull some goosenecks that i own and i pull campers that are 5th wheeles. Like i said in the goose thread I would rather have the B&W goose/5er set up rite now I have the reese rail system. With the flat bed Id have 102" flat no fenders/box sides to take up room.

Hey Justice, I just got done helping a buddy out finishing his bed on a '06 dually. Depending on how fancy you want to get ,$2500 was spent on material alone, not to mention we made all our own breaks in the plate and we already had the l.e.d. lights from another project. I think total spent was around $6000. Pricy but SWEET.

My father inlaw always build a custom bed for his rigs. He uses it for a welding truck. The last one was really nice, but he never got it painted. On a hualer I think they look and work great but on a street queen partime hauler I think the stock beds are better.

Well as for what Clark said mine is more hauler than street queen, 107500 miles and counting since April 19 2006  .

Keebler im looking at 102 wide, headache rack maybe two piece so half can be used as a ramp for loading, two front boxes, goose and 5th, aux tank somewhat sunk in the floor, three reciver mounts in the rear two have to be strong enuff to pull trailers, maybe a rear box also, LED lights (got to have some bling). All that kinda makes it so I have to go custom. So what do you think? Any thoughts :stir:

What size tank? (gallons), 2-piece rack for loading into bed or a diff. trailer.Do you want the tool box flush with the top with a remote actuator(air or elect.)or on the side like a cm flatbed. Why the 3 hitches on the rear why not just a 2" reciever.Painted or spray lined, # of l.e.d.s. I've got the time if you got the money.
