Anyone know of a standard design for building gooseneck hitches? Info such as the taper in angle and generall lengths and material sized, etc?

Also, it currently has a coupler like this:

I am only really familiar to these:

Is there a plus to the kind that is on it. I am pretty sure I will convert to the later picture when I rebuild the hitch.

well, started building my own gooseneck tongue and coupler. Here is what I started with last night and this is what it looks like as of tonight. Gotta figure my angles and notch the forward beams then mock it all up and weld on. Basically will have the whole thing built in the shop then pull trailer in and out with the old and in with the new.
Anyone who can guess what I started with gets an "atta-boy"

1985 KW tractor to be exact. One of my first things I did when I started the job I am at is to strpi this truck out and stock all the good parts and haul the rest off. I stashed the rails out behind the shop figuring there would be a good use for them. Three years later....

Almost have everything ready to pull the trailer in and cut and install new tongue today, a little more grinding and cleaning up so it will take paint and she should be ready.

I have some old semi trailer landing gear that we took off a trailer because the gearbox high range was stripped out. I will take the gearbox off and run them direct and make an inner tube peice that goes up the jack with pin hole so you can get the feet close to the ground then start jacking... make any sense?
