Took an old boat trailer and lengthened 14 odd feet to built a 4 place snowmobile trailer out of. Took suspension out of that trailer my dad gave me (see other post) and made a sub frame for that so I can change where the axle placement is if I don't like the way it pulls. Here is a low quiality pic from my cell phone of the progress so far. Need some more crossmembers and then run the stringers and deck it.

Looks good so far. Glad to see you went with a slightly larger tire size. Most of the open flat bed trailers we have seen use the small golf cart sized tires. They work fine but I was always nervous about ours on our small 2 place and wouldn't drive any too fast. If I was doing 60mph, those little tires and bearings were probably doing 80....

We have the larger tires like those on our Interstate enclosed 27 footer.

yeah it currently has 235/75R15 pickup tires on it. Plan is to run a 195/75 tire for a little less height to clear the deck and not make the deck too high off the ground. A friend with a 2 place with the little mini tires on the way up the mountain last year had a blow out. Put a 1 foot square hole in the deck of his trailer

Lookin good!! I wish I was skilled enough with a welder to build a trailer. Cutting and laying out the steel would be easy...but I just havent welded enough to do that kind of work:eek:

I learned by just going out to the shop and doing it. Framing is easy, just measuer alot. I used a string down the center to keep my stringers centered.

Haven't had time lately, been busy building new goodies on the sled to work on the trailer and now working alot on my new gooseneck so I think the sled trailer will be more of a summer project now.
