Hello from Oregon... Pleased to be able to learn from the experience that all of you have gained with your various "tow rigs". I plan on hauling my antique Massey-Harris 44 Special tractor built in 1954, (which makes me an antique too!), to various tractor pulls and agricultural shows here in the Pacific NW. I have an older Chev pickup to tow the tractor, a 1979 4wd 1/2 ton "Trailering Special", but I have still not figured out what makes this Chev truck so "special' as far as trailering is concerned. The Massey-Harris weighs in at about 5,500 lbs. so the trailer, (which I do not yet have), must likely be the next step up from the 7,000 GVW car haulers which seem so common. I had thought that (2) 5,200 pound axles would be sufficient on an 18 to 20 foot bed, with brakes on both axles. Will would be very interested in hearing other views on what would make a suitable trailer. Thank you everyone! MH44-Special in Oregon
