Here's my story and I'm sticking to it: I'm married with two boys (8 and 5). Wife and kids love wheeling and camping as much as I do. Jeep has four seats. Good fit.
One day I realize that it's been more than a month since I've seen the tampon wrappers in the wastebasket in the bathroom. "Honey", I say "How late are you". "Four days" says a woman whose cycle is down to the hour.
Oops. "What are we gonna do now?" I say.
"Go buy a tow rig" says the wife. "Someone always has an open seat in rig for the trail, but getting to the trail is the problem".

My current truck and commute vehicle (only a 4 mile commute thank god) is a standard cab '91 F250. It's gonna go, and I am going to get a new truck. I came to this site to learn more. Here's where I stand:
1 ton diesel with a manual tranny. I don't think I have to justify the diesel preference here, and the manual tranny because I just don't trust automatics. Sorry folks, but I just don't. My F250 is on its third one. I've been driving 10 and 13 speed manuals in big rigs for many years and I don't mind shifting.

I'm leaning towards Dodge because I know Cummins and they have always served me well. Feel free to try to convince me otherwise.
I have financing in place and I'm ready to buy. I just have not found the right truck. The stock of '05 trucks is shrinking fast, and my local dealer's quote on a special order '06 was about 4 grand higher than the '05. I'll have to wait until they hit the lots to make a deal.

So that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

BTW, I recognize many of your user names from a few different 4x4 boards. I go by "IBROCUN" there.

Welcome waytogo , as far as an 06 being about 4 grand more than an 05, keep in mind that an 05 is now a year old, just as an 04 should be about 4 grand less than an 05.

I meant for new trucks. The trucks that are left on the lots right now are '05. The '06 trucks start rolling in next month. The '05 trucks are subject to the "Employee Pricing" deal. An '05 Quad Cab SLT dually, Cummins, 6 spd Big Horn Edition with a few, but not all, goodies can be had for $35k. My dealer worked out pricing on that same truck, but an '06 model is $39k. The difference is Dodge rebates and other pricing incentives. Since they are not on the lots yet, DCX has no reason to offer deals.
That will change though. Once the inventory of '06 trucks starts to build up I bet I will be able to get the truck I want for $35k. Yeah, I realize that an '06 will be a little bit more, but not $4k more.

I found an '05 on a dealer lot in Phoenix last week that fit my criteria. I could have had it for $35k and change if it met California emissions, but it does not. I guess I'll have to wait a while.

    Got it!

    Here it is!
06 3500 Quad Cab SLT Big Horn
    Cummins
    6 spd
    yada yada yada

    What's missing from this picture?
The trailer. Have not decided what to do yet. Camper with the Jeep on a car trailer? 5th wheel with Jeep on a car trailer in tandem (yes, I have a doubles endorsement on my class A), or a 32+ foot gooseneck with some home-fabbed "camper" at the front and space for the Jeep on the back?
