yep, i'm running the intercooler from Banks on an '05 Duramax and an '06 Cummins. On both trucks, i noticed right away that they both had quicker spool up, lower egts, and better fuel economy. Pretty much all the claims that they make, i can literally see.

    Thats interesting!

I will be adding either the BD or the Spearco Intercooler to my Race/Tow rig this year with hopes of better mileage, power, and of course, faster times.

Why are intercoolers so expensive? Seems like they are not much more than a simple air cooled radiator, am I missing something?

    First, they are aluminum.

Second, consider the time that goes into building the core.

Third, the endtanks are made one of 2 ways, they are either sand cast, which makes fab of the intercooler faster, but is expensive to set up and requires a foundry, or you build the endtanks by hand, which is labor intensive and costly.

Consider R and D time. A radiator only has to hold about 20psi and not much flow through it. A good intercooler will flow 1500+cfm with minimal pressure loss and withstand 100+ psi.

Now they have to make a few bucks on the thing to make it worth their while.
