My buddy decided to sell his '69 Mustang a few weeks ago. The buyer was 550 miles away in Wisconsin and wondered if there was any way the car could be delivered. Is the Pope catholic?rotfl The car was narrow enough to throw on my 16' landscaper's trailer (lighter than my car-hauler) so we strapped her down and headed out. Made it up there on one tank of fuel with some to spare. 19.1 MPG for the trip up. Would have been a little higher I think if not for the 40+ mph winds we had to push through from the Ohio-Indiana border to central Wis. It was a good trip, though I-90 through Chicago was ripped apart from one side of town to the other (like Chicago needs any help making traffic worse)!:doah: Plus it cost $20.00 each way in tolls to cross through Indiana!! Lady at the booth said their Governor decided it would be a good idea to lease the turnpike to the Spaniards so they could jack the tolls way up and get rich off us . Anyhow, the buyer is happy. My friend is happy, kinda (he Had to sell the mustang because of disability. he didn't really want to but he needed the $$). And I got 2 days off work for a road trip and some extra coin in my pocket!waytogo
East Bound and down. Im headed out on a road trip tomorrow. Leaving western oregon and headed for colorado. Colorado to Chicago then to Indiana, over to Virginia and my final destination is North Carolina... Ill let you know how it goes. Not towing anything. Just a truck load of stuff to hold me over until fall. Thats a good looking setup you had there!
Thanks! Wifey and I are going to take Jim (the feller that sold the mustang) on a big-time road trip starting July 12th. Jim had to have an emergency heart transplant last year at the age of 40! He's never seen the mountains or anything else out west for that matter so we're loading up him, the mutts and the Starcraft 14RT and going on a sight-seeing tour. We'll be heading west till we hit Colorado, zigzag through the south central part of the state on the back roads till we end up in Utah, where we'll visit Moab for a couple days, then meander north into Wyoming and eventually end up in Yellowstone. We tried to take Jim on pretty much the exact same trip last year, but it was only 3 months after his transplant and the docs at the Cleveland Clinic found a virus in his system and canceled the trip just 20 hours before time to leave. I posted the original story on a different forum last year. http://www.dodgetrucks.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=76269 It describes what happened to Jim, our basic route and has a couple pics of our rig and our travel companions.
