Have a toy hauler trailer, max weight is 10,000 lbs, 2 axles so assuming 5,000/5,200 lbs axles. When I start hauling my new sand rail I'll probably be hauling more like 11,000-11,500 lbs. So, I know I should upgrade my axles, any thought about prices, and would I have to change springs? Should I go with springs or torsion system?
So yer talking total weight, trailer & sand rail? That is one heavy sand rail. I think if you have class 5 hitch with a weight distrabution setup, brakes on both axels, E rated trailer tires you will be fine. I see all the time were a 7K trailer is overloaded without weight dist. setup, so if you have a 10K rated trailer with a WD setup yer fine... .02c Burt
Yeah, trailer is 7,000, water/lpg 900, sandrail 2,500-2,700..not weighed yet, and bunch of food/tools/junk....guess 400. Sandrail is heavy, long travel, 350 SBC, tons of bracing. Wasn't worried about towrig....Tow boss, DRW, PSD, I just didn't want to overload trailer bearings. Tires are Denman load E's. Maybe I'm being a worry wart.
Oooo I see so it is a TravelTrailer & Toy hauler??...I thought you were talkin about a flatbed type car hauler that weigh about 2.5K or so... I don't know if your wheelbearings will suffer or not I am a rookie too most of this towing stuff so take what I say as opinion only hehehhee Maby a seasoned tow-er person will chime in for ya....
