hey guys i'm going to be switching to synthetic on my next oil change and was thinking about installing an oil bypass filter system. the two im considering are the fs-2500 and the amsoil system. i was quoted almost 550.00 for the fs kit and 300.00 for the amsoil kit. anyone have any experience with either kit? it'll be going into a 00' ctd. thanks!

I have the Amsoil kit on my truck and use a 2 qt filter and have it plumed from a port above the stock filter and discharg back through the oil cap. I put fittings and a ball valve next to the oil cap so that I can pull a sample.

have not had any problems with it. I have a manual transmission so I was able to mount it on the firewall above the turbo.

What WSTEPHENS is describing is the BMK11. It is a single remote mounted bypass filter. Very good units, work very well, and install is pretty simple. We have installed many of the Amsoil kits here in the shop, they seem to be more and more popular here lately.
Now, on your 2000, I would also consider the dual filter bypass kit BMK-15. This system will replace the stock full flow filter and mount an adapter in its place. Hoses run from this adapter to the filter block, which you mount wherever you like, remotely. Now, the advantage to this is now both the full flow and bypass filters are in the same location, and if installed well, easy to get to. No more taking the intake tube off to do an oil change, or trying to fish the filter out of there without spilling.

I would mount the Dual filter kit to the cross member under the radiator if you have a 4wd. This will keep it up and out of the way,m but filter changes will not be hard. The single filter kit you can mount just about anywhere.

I would highly recommend you go one of these Amsoil routes rather than the FS. Not just because I am an Amsoil Dealer, but because I have tried to deal with FS and they are just not the kind of people I would want to do business with.
