I have had since the begining of summer just haven't had the time to post up. Here it is stock and here it is a couple weeks later with rock sliders and 35's, its funny I got it thinking that now I would be able to get stuff done on the blazer because it doesn't have to be my dd anymore, but now that I have a new truck to play with it seems like I have no time to tinker with the blazer.
Thanks guys! To get the tires to fit I just had to crank the T-bars and trim the front valance a little which made it fine for driving around town, but I endend up trimming a tiny piece (not even noticeable) of sheetmetal at the inside bottom of the fender so that it could flex all the way with the wheels cranked. No rubbing what so ever, the backspaceing and offset of the H2 rims really help out a lot.
How is the ride with the bars cranked so much? Mine are cranked a little to give it a level stance. Do you think those rims and tires will fit my truck?
Looks good, I've considered the H2s for mine, but don't need the headaches of running 35s and the stock forged aluminum wheels look good enough for me with 33s. Standard warning though for those who do not know: "Cranking the T-Bars" will lead to excessive CV, suspension component, and steering component wear. Of primary concern is the idler which receives quite a bit more vertical load (due to the "lift) than it is designed to handle. That makes idler wear a problem, and it also makes the truck tend to wander a bit due to deflection and tougher to keep the front end aligned due to accelerated wear. And of course, the more angle you have on a CV, the faster it fails. To make matters worse, the impact of additional angle on the CV is not linear, but more like exponential, which means that adding 2* of angle is WAY worse than twice what you get with 1*. There can also be mechanical damage in some cases from the suspension repeatedly "topping" due to reduced down travel. The repercussions of this "easy" lift are the primary reason for the "IFS is weak" myth... Which is not to say that the front end is going to fall out from under the truck the first time you drive it. Just be aware that you are going to increase the frequency of repairs and PM required quite a bit if you go up much (if any?) beyond the stock parameters.
Lay it down Baddog imp: Good info! Awesome truck! I really like those H2 wheels. Been thinking about a set for my K5
The ride is the same if not better than stock due to the larger softer tires. I know the rims will fit your truck, but with the old body style I'm not sure about the tires I think you would need a body lift.
Yeah if mine would have came with the optional forged aluminum wheels instead of the stock steal ones I would have just kept them and put 315's on 'em. Good warning info. However I'm not to worried about the extra wear and tear on the drivetrian components, because with the slight trimming I only turned the t-bars enough to level the truck which was only 1.25" (it looks higher in the front due to boat being on back in pics). And with these new trucks cranking the torsions seems to be a lot more forgiving than the older trucks, you can even have them do it at the dealership as part of a snowplow prep package if you want. Heck, when I took it to the local shop to get the alingment checked they said it didn't even need it.
