keep in mind this is my first heavy duty truck so I just have to ask.

My transmission seems to shift kind of hard compared to my previous vehicle 00' Explorer or any other vehicle I have driven.

I have been told it's just because it is a heavy duty tranny.

    Any insight?

It probably shifts hard because it's brand new and the 48RE line pressure is probably pretty strong now. Is it mainly firm when you lay into it or every shift?

It shifts pretty firm on hard acceleration. When I come to a stop or as I am slowing down I can feel it down shift which almost feels like it pops into a lower gear. I just wanted to make sure it was normal.

Thanks for the heads up waytogo

Sounds like it's doing it's job to me, mine shifts pretty firm too if I get on it. Since your truck is considerably more powerfull than mine from the factory I would imagine yours would probably be even firmer. I don't see how these autos are all that bad, I've got 112K on mine and it shifts nice and firm still. waytogo

I would agree, but the only problems I hear about ARE trucks with boxes, etc.
