i am looking at either a water/meth kit or a propane kit for my truck. the truck is stock, but exaust is coming. the goal is milage and not to burn the motor up. i do not want to use a programmer yet do to the warrenty. anybody have either of these and how do you like them? thanks for any info.
I am pretty sure either of the kits you have listed would also void your powertrain warranty. Either way you are modifying the motor. If you still decide to go that route, the Snow water meth kit is less money, but will not increase diesel mileage quite as much as the propane. however, the Water meth is adjustable and offers lots of options for power and such, and is much cheaper and easier to fill. Propane will help mileage on a stock truck. Just remember you are burning 2 fuels, like with the water meth. So, after installing a very expensive system, mounting and expensive and awkward propane tank, you are going to have to find a station that fills both diesel and propane or 2 different stations. Also - Diesel Fuel contains approx 147,000 btu of thermal energy per gallon, propane contains 97,00 btu per gallon. Much less thermal energy.
i have access to propane at cost, thats no problem. just did wonder about the egt's. either way i am just researching the best route. thanks for the inpute. it will be a while before i choose which one.
