    Most of the self propelled Drilling Rigs use locomotive type traction motors for propulsion. The older rigs use submarine electric drive motors for propulsion.

    Helo in Lafayette. Good food at the Petroleum Club.

    Used to work out of Morgan City. Worked with PenRod, (no longer around)
    with Diamond M (still around) ODECO (Diamond M sucked them up) Cliffs Drilling, Reading and Bates, TransWorld, Noble Drilling, McDermott, Gulfcraft, North American Shipbuilding (LaRose) Etc. Left Morgan City in 91. Retired now. Still love it over there. Lots of friends down the Bayou.

    Having bug withdrawals.

    Guess its not a Duramax or Cummins,man I tought I knew it.Hey what about the engines powering the generators in China?those things look pretty strong not to mention huge.
