from what i hear my PCS makes mission plus every month. i think i will be changing the route but am factoring in diesel prices along the way. getting less mileage and driving less/paying less could end up paying for itself in the end. still doing some math and factoring in the prices over the next week or so.

If youre wanting to stay on flat ground for fuel savings then avoid the C'burg route you talked about in the beginning. I-81 is pretty hilly in several spots all the way from C'burg VA well into PA since it follows the Appalachians.

As for the weight station in troutville Ive seen ppl with rigs like yours blow right by while at other times Ive seen ppl go through the scales. Cant tell you if theyve ever hassled anyone thats in your situation though but when I drove semi VDOT ALWAYS hassled me. Be aware that VDOT carries portable scales as well. Ive never seen anything other than a semi get scaled with the portables but I guess theres always a first time.

I do know of one fellow racer with a enclosed bumper pull (~32') that was pulled over by the portable scales and raked over the coals for some reason. They never weighed him  but they fined him for not having "Not For Hire" on the rig as well as told him if he was over xxlbs he had to have a log book. Personally I as well as him believe the VDOT guy was just being an a$$ for whatever reason since thats the ONLY instance of something like that ever happening I know of.

I've hauled my 31' car carrier all over Va, NC, Pa,Md and Ga. I've never stopped at to weigh in.
